And he is joined by a fan favourite from Netflix’s Heartstopper.
One of the original cast of Neighbours will be back on the BBC later this month in a brand-new role.
Alan Dale, who played Jim Robinson, has signed on for the second season of BBC Three’s slasher comedy, Wreck.
Jim was patriarch of the Robinson family appearing in episode 1 of Neighbours back in 1985 and remained on the show until the character suffered a devastating physical setback in 1993, dying of a heart attack on the floor of No.26 Ramsay Street. Despite dying, the character returned to our screens in 2018, appearing to son Paul Robinson in a Christmas Bauble to advise him of the error of his ways in an episode inspired by “A Christmas Carol”.
Since then, New Zealand-Born Alan has gone on to great success in the USA with roles in Dynasty, NCIS, Ugly Betty and The O.C. where he played the stepfather of Marisa, played by Mischa Barton, who appeared on Neighbours last year as part of the show’s revival on Amazon.
Season 1 of Wreck debuted on BBC Three in 2022 and told the story of Jamie (Oscar Kennedy) who cons his way into a job on a cruise ship to investigate the disappearance of his sister on that same ship months earlier. Once onboard, he finds many evil forces at play, keeping secret the fact that there is a serial killer at large (who just happens to be dressed as a massive duck).
The series focuses on the younger members of the ships crew as they try to survive against all odds. For season two Kennedy (Ladhood, Breeders), Thaddea Graham (Sex Education, Us) and Jodie Tyack (Noughts + Crosses, Unforgotten) return alongside fellow survivors Anthony Rickman (Enola Holmes), Amber Grappy (One Day), Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters), Miya Ocego, Warren James Dunning, Alice Nokes, James Phoon (Bridgerton), Ali Hardman, Rory O’Neill (Panti), and Harriet Webb (Big Boys).
The second season is set in the months after the events of series one’s shocking blood-soaked conclusion. We re-join Jamie, Vivian and their found family of survivors back on land, as they strike back against Velorum, the corporate murder machine that claimed Jamie’s sister. In a daring and desperate attempt to bring the company down, the gang go undercover to infiltrate Velorum’s newest venture – an exclusive ‘wellness’ festival for millionaires in the remote Slovenian countryside. Relationships fray, blood pours, and not everyone will be making it out alive.
Alan Dale will be playing Charles Deveraux, another newcomer in the show’s return is Heartstopper actor Bradley Riches, who is currently appearing on ITVs Celebrity Big Brother.
All 6 episodes of the new season will land on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Tuesday, March 26th, with episode 1 of the show airing on BBC Three at 10pm that same evening.
Season 1 of Wreck is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
