The shocks just keep coming for Mackenzie and her friends. Following yesterday’s revelation that the guy she had been seeing, Ed, was actually Holly’s abusive ex-boyfriend, Eden Shaw, the group returned to the winery to discover that all of their purses and wallets had been stolen, the till at the bar had been emptied and Mackenzie’s bag had been taken, which contained her wedding ring from Hendrix.
Whilst Leo called the Police, Mackenzie, reeling in shock, tried to make sense of what had happened. Holly supportively told Mack it was easy to be duped by Eden, she had fallen for the same charm, but instantly the confidence at returning to dating that she had been building up over the last few weeks was stripped away.
Later, back at home, Mackenzie confided in Haz how much this experience with Eden and losing her wedding ring had knocked her confidence and bought her grief for Hendrix back to the surface:
“It shocked me how powerful the grief was. How raw. I know Hendrix is gone but it felt like losing him all over again. back to square one.”
It seemed like the romantic feelings that Haz holds for his housemate were reappearing, but he could also see how fragile she was and the progress she had made in moving forward had all disappeared. With so many people touched by Eden’s actions, we are sure it won’t be long until he is tracked down. But that won’t be enough for broken Mackenzie
Elsewhere in Erinsborough, Reece Sinclair made excuses to not spend the day with her lover, Byron Stone. Byron became angry when he found out that Reece was actually spending the day searching for information around Erinsborough.
In the Lassiters Complex, Leo told Byron that he had seen Reece at the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation, where she had spent a lot of time searching through items looking for a Sun necklace to match the Moon pendant she already had, a piece of jewellery that Byron knew nothing about. At the Day Spa, Byron also discovered that Reece had been searching through client files instead of getting a massage, as she had told him. When Holly let it slip that Reece had been in the No. 82 with her father’s business associate, Tess in tears, Byron knew something was wrong.
Spotting Reece returning to Lassiters, he chased her, tracking her down to a random suite in the hotel. Reece suddenly realised that the game was up and she had to tell Byron what was going on. She wasn’t in Erinsborough to inspect the hotel, she was there to search for her missing sister.
Byron realised that Reece had been lying to him all along.
The road to healing will be a long one for Mackenzie, but will Haz be along for the ride? Who is Reece’s sister and why is she missing? Can Byron deal with the fact fact that Reece has been misleading him all this time?
