Neighbours has confirmed that Vic Stone is set to return to Erinsborough, throwing the lives of his family into turmoil.
In the latest set of episode teasers, we see that Vic comes back, just weeks after absconding shortly after discovering he had fully recovered from cancer.
Vic initially arrived in May to bond with his estranged family and share news of his terminal cancer diagnosis. Vowing to make amends for the way he had treated his family in the past, he arranged a financial legacy to support his children and gave Jane a heartfelt apology for the way he had treated her during their marriage.
Despite fearing he was about to die, Vic also made it clear that he still had feelings for Jane, even stealing a kiss from his ex-wife in a moment of celebration.
Whilst Jane played down the kiss, ultimately, the return of Vic made her question her commitment to fiance Mike Young, who was working in Europe and that relationship ended not long after Vic departed.
Vic discovered his cancer was in full remission during a routine check up at Erinsborough Hospital. Whilst in the UK, Vic had been taking part in a clinical trial, but thought that it hadn’t been successful.
On discovering that the trial had successfully beaten his illness, Vic was forced to rethink his situation. He had agreed to buy into the Yorokobi winery for his children, using his entire fortune to do so, which would have left him penniless. Rather than facing up to the new normal, Vic disappeared, pulling out of the winery deal and leaving only apology notes for Nicolette, Byron and Jane.
As Vic returns, his family is in a very different place. Jane is now freshly single and dealing with a rift between her and Nicolette. Nic, who always saw the best of her father, will surely be very happy to see Vic return as she struggles to get any support from her mother.
Byron, always more suspicious of Vic’s intentions, was left battered and bruised by Vic letting him down once again. Will he be able to welcome his father back with open arms, or will the Stone family become even more divided?
