Update: Michael Reason, curator at Melbourne Museum has informed us that the happy couple have been kept together with groom Hendrix’s suit also forming part of the display.

The stunning Monarch butterfly motif wedding dress worn by Mackenzie Hargeaves (Georgie Stone) during her wedding to Hendrix Greyson (Benny Turland) is to form part of a new exhibition at the Melbourne Museum.

When the two characters tied the knot in June last year, it marked the first ever wedding of a trans character in Australian television history.

The gown will be on display as part of the museum’s Rainbow Threads pop-up collection from tomorrow to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility.

The collection will continue to grow throughout other key dates in the LGBTQ+ calendar, including International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia on 17th May, Non-Binary People’s Day on 14th July, Internal Lesbian Day on 8th October and World AIDS Day on 1st December.

Melbourne Museum have a long history of Neighbours exhibits, previously featuring the No. 26 kitchen as part of a display, and currently displaying a replica of Scott and Charlene’s wedding cake complete with original cake topper. The museum is a must visit for UK fans taking the trip over to Australia this year.

Mackenzie and Hendrix’s relationship captivated Neighbours fans, who were devastated when Hendrix lost his life after a failed lung transplant operation just week’s before the show’s “finale”.

Georgie Stone is set to reprise her role as Mackenzie in the show’s return later in the year and a documentary following her life from child to teen activist, fighting for transgender rights is available to watch on Netflix now.
