Hidden feelings re-emerged as the truth about the breakdown of two Ramsay Street marriages was exposed during last week’s dramatic flashback week.

We learnt that both Paul and Melanie were caught up in the suspected murder of who we now know to be Krista Sinclair, sister of Reece, over a year ago. Rather than drag their respective spouses into the possible repercussions, Melanie ran away and Paul jilted Terese at the altar, choosing to protect her from the consequences of his actions.

In last Thursday’s episode (November 16th) we saw Terese learn the truth, that Paul left her out of a misguided sense of love, meaning that he never fell out of love with her. Terese confronted Paul, asking why he didn’t tell her the truth, that they could have worked things out, with Toadie looking on, seemingly confused by how his wife was handling the news. Does Terese still love Paul?

In an online poll, based on what happened during that episode, over 91% of fans surveyed believe that Paul and Terese will reunite.

We are now left with Toadie and Terese trying to make sense of this news, with Toadie asking Terese if she realises how different things would be if the situation with Krista hadn’t happened and both would likely still be married to their respective partners. They both agree that this news doesn’t change anything in their own marriage, but it seems like both parties are having very mixed feelings about what the future holds.

Without discussing with each other, both Toadie and Terese decided to visit their love rivals.

Terese arrives at Goodwood Prison where Melanie is being held. The air is cold as the two women meet face-to-face.

“I’ve come to ask you something”. Terese gets straight to the point. “You still love Toadie, don’t you.”

Melanie tells Terese that she won’t lie to her, which she takes as an admission, Melanie still loves her ex-husband.

Terese tells Melanie that she should refuse to speak with Nell if she reaches out, saying that Melanie lost any right to contact when she walked out on the family, a move that has put Nell in therapy.

“I need you to leave Toadie and the children alone”.

Melanie reluctantly agrees.

At the same time, Toadie arrives at Paul’s Penthouse, questioning Paul’s generous behaviour. The large divorce settlement, the offer of office space at Lassiters, the gracious way he accepted Terese’s new relationship. He had just one question.

“You’re still in love with Terese aren’t you?”

“I can’t deny it, I’m still in love with her and I always will be.” Paul doesn’t hesitate with his response.

Threateningly, Toadie tells Paul that he needs to back off. A dejected Paul agrees to stay away, and we all know that Paul is good to his word, don’t we?
