The latest series of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here is set to launch on Australian television screens tonight (April 2nd) and a well-known face from Erinsborough was among the first names to be announced as heading to the jungle.

Debra Lawrence, known to fans of the show as Liz Conway, Susan Kennedy’s sister and mother of Bea Nillson and Elly Conway, announced on Instagram that she was preparing to enter the jungle camp. She is best known as Home and Away’s Pippa Fletcher, playing the Summer Bay matriarch from 1990 until 1998.

Of the news, Lawrence posted: “It’s true! I can reveal that I’m venturing into the African jungle! I’m heading into the jungle in support of @ovariancanceroz – a charity that is very dear to my heart. While I’m away, my wonderful daughter Grace will be in charge of my socials. Please be kind!”

The charity Ovarian Cancer Australia has other links to Neighbours, partnering with the show and advising on stories following Sonya Rebecchi’s diagnosis in 2019.

This series of I’m A Celebrity will be broadcast live from South Africa’s Kruger National Park, the first time in three years that the show has been out in Africa. The previous two series of the show were pre-recorded in Australia, on the set of the UK version of the show, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, an All Star edition of the British version of I’m a Celebrity has been prerecorded at the Australian setup in South Africa and is expected to air in the coming months.

Other Neighbours alumni that have been campmates include Tim Robards (Pierce Greyson), Joel Creasy (Mick Allsop), Natalie Bassingthwaighte (Izzy Hoyland), Ash Williams (Rory Zemiro) and Kerry Armstrong (Heather Schilling/Nanny Alice). Kimberley Davies (Annalise Hartman) and Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson) have appeared on the British version of the show.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! premieres Sunday, April 2nd at 7.30pm on Channel 10 and 10play in Australia.
