Neighbours aired a surprise return in Monday’s episode that may put Haz and Mackenzie’s forthcoming marriage in jeopardy.

In episodes that aired last Wednesday and Thursday, we saw the return of jailbird Felix Rodwell, brother of Police Sergeant Andrew Rodwell. He is currently serving time in Warrinor Prison after violating parole and getting involved in the theft of building equipment from the Eirini Rising development and planning to abscond the country with girlfriend Joools.

Felix was rushed to Erinsborough Hospital after an incident at the prison which saw Felix critically injured due to a stabbing.

In Monday’s episode that rather than being the centre of the trouble at the prison, Felix was injured after stepping in to protect fellow inmates.

One inmate in particular that Felix saved the life of was Wade Fernsby, who is also at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the attack.

Wade, of course, was the former victim of Haz Devkar’s hacking gang. Angry after losing everything because of the hacking, Wade trained to become a hacker himself, terrorising the residents of Ramsay Street with cyber attacks that included a fake call to Aaron which made it appear that his husband, David Tanaka, was still alive as well as a deep fake video which seemed to show school principal Jane Harris in a sexual situation she recorded for her then-long-distance fiance, Mike Young.

Haz worked with Police to lure Wade into a honey trap. Wade thought that Haz was working with him, in reality, he was trying to gather evidence on the hacking that Wade had been doing.

Eventually Wade realised he was in the middle of a sting operation and fled the offices they were working from. Haz was in keen pursuit and ended up getting run over by Mackenzie as Wade was apprehended by the police.

Now an inmate at Warrinor, Wade had seemingly got himself into an awkward situation and Felix Rodwell stepped in to save his life, putting himself at risk.

So Wade is, at least temporarily, out of prison and back in Erinsborough.

He still has a grudge to bear against Haz for the original hacking and even more so for setting him up to be caught by the police.

In a conversation at the hospital with Felix, Wade cheerily said “If it wasn’t for you stepping in, I wouldn’t be sitting here dreaming about all the stuff I get to do when I finally get out.”

In an episode due to air next Monday, as Ramsay Street prepares for the wedding of the year, Felix overhears Wade making a phone call on a burner phone. Felix is just waking up and is a little groggy but hears Wade mentioning a wedding and that it is time to get payback.

This can’t be good news for Haz… or Mackenzie.

You can watch the drama unfold in episodes of Neighbours airing all this week and next in the run up to the big HazMack wedding. New episodes stream on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video from 7am, Monday-Thursday.
