Thursday August 29th saw a momentous achievement for Neighbours as the show celebrated their 200th episode airing on Amazon Freevee.

This celebration was unthinkable just over two years ago as millions sat down to watch the show’s finale episode. Less than 4 months after that balloon popped over Ramsay Street marking the end of 37 years of unmissable drama, champagne corks began to pop when it was announced that Amazon was picking up the show for a two-year run.

In the 200 episodes since the show returned, we have seen a marriage, an engagement, plenty of break ups, a few deaths, a crocodile attack and even someone pooping in the bushes. We celebrated the show’s 9,000th episode earlier this year, which focused on the life of Paul Robinson with Arron trying to school Chelsea Murphy in the dastardly deeds that Paul has taken part in over the years.

It seemed only fitting that to celebrate 200 episodes of this new chapter, the show focused on one of the show’s new characters, Cara Varga-Murphy, plotting the episode around her 40th birthday party.

It isn’t always a success when new families arrive en-mass to Erinsborough… for every Scully, Willis or Kennedy family, there are families like the Williams, Parkers, Hancocks and Lims that all left as quickly as they arrived without making too much of an impact on Ramsay Street (And barely even a mention in Harold’s history book!).

The Varga-Murphys seem to have escaped that curse, with Remi, Cara, JJ and Dex blending into the drama of Ramsay Street and becoming part of the rich fabric of Erinsborough life.

We are also just 3 weeks away from the 1st anniversary of Neighbours on Amazon on September 18th. Of course, this episode should have been one of celebration, with the Rebecchi Willis first anniversary party planned. It now looks like that won’t happen, but Neighbours is never one to let an important milestone go unnoticed, so what do they have in store for a big first birthday bash?

We know that there are big things planned next March for the show’s 40th anniversary (The producers are staying VERY tight-lipped about what to expect to mark the big day) but, whatever it is, we are sure, much like the many anniversaries before it and, of course, that epic finale, there really will be the perfect blend.
