Neighbours has confirmed its schedule over the Christmas holidays this year.

For over 30 years, Neighbours would take a 4-6 week break over the festive season in its native Australia (Although in the UK the show would air year-round, allowing us to catch up with the initial 18 month delay in broadcast).

In 2018, with Neighbours finally airing on the same day in both Australia and the UK, Neighbours announced it would be ditching the traditional Christmas break and broadcasting year-round, airing their very first Christmas Day episode that year.

Just prior to the show’s cancellation, Neighbours returned to having a festive break, taking 4 weeks off at the end of 2021.

When the show returned to Amazon in 2023, year-round broadcast started again with the streamer dropping episodes across the holiday period, with a true Ramsay Street Celebration as Elly Conway and Chloe Brennan married.

This year, Neighbours WILL be taking a two-week break over Christmas, leaving us with the potential for a big Christmas cliffhanger.

In a statement, Amazon said:

“This year, everyone’s favourite Neighbours will also be having a break for the holidays. The last episode of the daily drama in 2024 will air on Thursday, 19th December, 2024 and the series will return to screens on Monday, 6th January 2025.”

Neighbours has a history of big dramatic storylines leading up to the season finale, such as Sonya Rebecchi and Vanessa Villante both going into labour at the exact same moment, the kidnap of baby Gabe, Terese left hanging from the roof of Lassiters and who could forget the 2005 season finale where Harold Bishop attempted to murder Paul Robinson?

What do you think the big dramatic finish to 2024 will be?

You can catch up on the latest from Ramsay Street with brand-new episodes of Neighbours streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 7am, Monday-Thursday and you can use the Christmas break to go back in time. Amazon has over 2000 archive episodes of Neighbours available to view.
