In Monday’s episode of Neighbours, it was confirmed what happened to Mackenzie and Toadie, whose lives had been left hanging in the balance following Heath Royce’s rampage in the Outback.

Mackenzie had been shot by Heath as he tried to track down Holly and Melanie, just moments before he was pushed into a creek by Holly, only to be eaten alive by crocodiles. Mackenzie’s lifeless body was found by Melanie as she fled the scene.

Elsewhere, Toadie had separated from the group in search of help. Eventually, heat exhaustion took the better of him and he collapsed on train tracks, seeing his life flash before his eyes.

In today’s resolution, Melanie’s screams for help are heard by Holly, Haz and Tess who all arrive on the scene and Mackenzie starts to come around, calling out Haz’s name.

Word gets back to Erinsborough on what has happened and Andrew relays teh news to Terese, who is waiting at home with Paul and the Kennedys.

He reveals that Heath Royce has been killed and that Mackenzie has been seriously injured. Karl and Susan are relieved to head that Holly is safe and, seemingly, well.

Terese suddenly realises that there is no news about Toadie, but Andrew has nothing to share. He tells her that Toadie went off alone and hasn’t been seen.

Just as she starts processing the information, Nell and Hugo return home and she is left with the task of explaining to the kids that their father is missing.

The tension doesn’t last for long. Good news comes from the Outback. Toadie has been found, severely dehydrated, but he is alive and will be able to return to Erinsborough. It seems like the Outback only claimed one victim…

As the gang return to Erinsborough, Terese processes the events of the last two days and tells the Kennedys that it made her realise that she loves Toadie more than ever.

After a night in the hospital, Toadie returns home to a warm welcome from Terese and teh kids, but there is an air that something isn’t quite right.

Terese asks if Toadie wants to discuss what happened in the Outback. He is silent. She tries to mask over the obvious awkwardness, trying to plana day to help him relax and bond with her and teh kids, but still nothing from Toadie.

Eventually he breaks his silence.

“I can’t do this.”

When Terese asks him to explain, Toadie makes a shocking admission.

“I’ve been trying to convince myself that everything’s going to be OK, but it’s not. Terese, I can’t be with you any more.”

Is this the end for Toadie and Terese?

The story continues tomorrow with a new episode landing at 7am on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime video and the Outback story will continue to unravel over the coming weeks.
