As Neighbours’ Flashback Week drew to a close we discovered the truth behind Paul Robinson’s reasons for jilting his bride, Terese Willis at the altar.
Terese had believed that Paul no longer loved her, causing the breakdown in their marriage, Terese then fell into the arms of Toadie Rebecchi whose wife had also recently walked out on him.
Last week we found out that both Paul and Melanie had been involved in the suspected murder of Krista Sinclair and that Paul’s love for Terese meant he didn’t want her to be caught up in any fallout from his actions.
As Terese realised that Paul walked away from her to protect her and that he still loved her, we saw her body language towards Toadie change and her anger boil over into a full blown verbal attack on Paul outside the Police Station.
With this revelation, we asked viewers if they thought that a Paul and Terese reunion was on the cards. Our poll on Twitter/X had 236 votes and a massive 91.1% of those who replied think that Paul and Terese will get back together.
Over 52% of respondents think this will be a quick reunion, with us seeing the first kiss before Christmas. In March 2024 we see the 39th anniversary of Neighbours as well as episode 9000 when we are sure to see some big storylines and over 34% of people think that we will see the reunion before that landmark 9000th episode. 3.8% think that it will take a little longer for the couple to get back together and just 8.9% said they think that it is over permanently for the couple formerly known as #Praise and we will not see a reunion.
Fans were quick to pick up on the change in Terese’s demeanour and came up with their own theories.
“Paul sacrificing marrying Terese tells you all you need to know about how much he wanted to protect her from being implicated in the whole mess. The way Terese reacted today says it all. She’s so clearly still in love with him, she said they could have worked out a solution.” one fan wrote online.
“When Terese pushed Toadie away, I sensed it was SO OVER for them. Terese and Paul belong together. Him not involving Terese was actually the most selfless thing he’s ever done, and she’s realised it.” said another.
One fan thinks it will be a very quick reunion, predicting that the first kiss will happen 7 minutes in to Monday’s episode!
There is guaranteed to be plenty of fall out from this revelation. One fan asking “What will happen now between Toadie & Terese? Paul & Terese? Todie & Mel?”
In the ‘Coming up’ segment on Thursday’s episode we saw Toadie visit Paul to ask if he is still in love with Terese. For Toadie, too, feelings with be brought to the fore as he has also discovered that the reasons his own marriage to Melanie broke down was because of her own guilt and desire to protect her husband and stepchildren.
So, whatever happens, there is likely to be a lot of tension over the coming weeks and all four characters work through their confusing feelings for each other now that everything is out in the open.
