Neighbours has been off of our screens for the last two weeks (We know, we think it feels much longer too) but do not fear, Erinsborough is ready to welcome us back for the 2025 season.

We know that 2025 is going to be a big year as we start to ramp up towards March’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Fans are also anxiously awaiting news of a possible renewal of the show with the Amazon commissioned episodes set to air up until September this year.

That is all yet to come, but as we visit Ramsay Street for the first time this year, we have all of the cliffhangers from the 2024 season finale to resolve… a warning to viewers… not all of those cliffhangers are going to be resolved straight away, so you will need a little patience.

We saw danger for some of the residents as a car hurtled along Power Road in the final scene of 2024. Teh screen turned to black and we just heard screams… is everyone safe?

There was love in the Penthouse as Paul and Terese went public with their reconciliation and Leo and Krista got engaged. Can these two couples stay happy or does trouble await them?

Yaz is on course to ruin Holly’s life even further as she seeks revenge for Heath’s death. We saw Holly distraught when she received a Christmas gift and note from Heath from beyond the grave. What is Yaz’s end game and who is going to get caught up in the crossfire?

And Chelsea. Chelsea Murphy. Cara’s sister was spotted at the airport as the Varga-Murphy family jetted off to New York. Why was Cara’s sister back in town after completely disappearing for (checks notes) 8 months. Ah, yes, Chelsea is pregnant! In one of the least-surprising twists the show has ever given us, after trying to get pregnant by Paul to pin him down, she has shown up ready to pop. Is the baby Paul’s? Surely the fact that Yaz recently met up with Jeffrey, the IT guy that Chelsea also slept with, can’t just be a coincidence…?

So, let’s take a look at what is happening in the first week of 2025. As always, we haven’t included EVERYTHING, so you will need to watch every day to catch up on what is happening with our friends and neighbours.

WHO WAS THE HIT AND RUN TARGET?

Despite being in the firing line, Sadie received only minor injuries after being pushed out of the way of the speeding car by Max Ramsay. Not everyone got away so lucky though, with Sebastian being seriously injured and Max also needing hospital treatment. The driver also ended up being injured and ended up in hospital, so who exactly was he trying to get to?

Max is concerned that the incident may have been someone coming after him, afterall, we know he left a dangerous situation behind in Queensland, but when he sneaks into the driver’s hospital room, he doesn’t recognise him. He later goes to search the car in the search for clues but comes away empty-handed.

Andrew Rodwell is back in town and on the case! When a picture of Sebastian is found on the driver’s phone, it is clear who was the intended target. Andrew tells Max who is relieved to hear the news, but when Andrew discovers that someone searched the car following the attack and later hears Max on the phone to his father, the Sarge can’t help but get a little suspicious.

After seeing Max risk his own life for Sadie, Byron and Sadie throw him an olive branch and invite him to stay living at No.32.

SEBASTIAN AND KRISTA RECONNECT

Seriously injured after the attack, Sebastian is in Erinsborough Hospital. When newly-engaged Krista hears the news, she is devastated and rushes to his bedside. She learns that Sebastian had returned the money to her that she had given him to pay off the loan sharks. Is this why the attack happened?

She makes an emotional apology to Seb, regretful that she didn’t take the danger he was in seriously enough. Even Leo brings himself to apologising, feeling responsible for inadvertently revealing Sebastian’s whereabouts.

Sebastian is humble and admits that he never gave Krista or Leo any reason to trust him and he realised that he was doing the wrong thing as soon as Krista agreed to give him the money. Is Seb a changed man? Krista promises to stand by her old friend and ensure he makes a full recovery.

Leo is concerned to see the two reconnecting and admits to Paul that he fears that the pair will fall in to their old habit of unhealthy dependency. True to form, Paul tells his son that he is best to keep teh enemy close, but not too close.

Leo offers Sebastian a room at Lassiters for his recovery, rather than have him move into Krista’s apartment. But fearful for his mental state, Krista doesn’t wantt o leave Seb alone and Leo comes home to find Sebastian moving in with Krista.

Leo suggests that rehab would be the best thing for Seb, but after pleading with Krista, Seb convinces her that he is best off staying in Erinsborough with her support. Believing she could be the sober companion to him that David was to her, she agrees to let him stick around.

As the pair reminisce, Krista unknowingly is encouraging Sebastian’s crush on her, which he has been secretly holding for years.

When Seb almost overdoses on his painkillers, Krista cancels a romantic lunch with Leo to stay with her friend. Seb sees it as a win for him, Leo sees it as a problem. Is Krista being dragged down by her old friend?

PAUL AND TERESE NAVIGATE THEIR NEW NORMAL

Whilst their public admission on Christmas Day may have been all love hearts and roses, it doesn’t take long for Paul and Terese to fall into old habits. Paul suggests that the pair redevelop Power Road together, which leaves Terese a little uncomfortable. Is this relationship just a strange business partnership?

When the residents of Eirini Rising start selecting their pictures for the Lost Loves light show, Paul steps up to support Terese as she struggles to pick out pictures of her late son, Josh. This prompts the couple to reflect on how that almost lost each other and that they now have the opportunity to start again.

AARON HITS THE DATING SCENE

It is almost a year since David’s tragic death and after a disastrous flirtation with Logan, is Aaron ready to find love again. When Real Estate Agent Rhett asks Aaron out again, he feels awkward and removes himself from the situation.

Jane, who knows all about losing love herself, gives some heartfelt advice and causes Aaron to rethink the situation. He returns to Rhett and asks him out. They have a date!

WHen Yaz steps in and demands Aaron run some errands for her, it clashes with the date he had planned. Rather than cancel, Aaron asks Rhett to join him on his drive into the city. It isn’t the date they had planned, but it’s still a good chance to spend time together.

Aaron gets anxious when he struggles to find his way around the city and also realises he is talking about David a lot. Has he blown his chance with this new man? Rhett senses Aaron’s stress and steps in to calm Aaron’s nerves. Is this too much, too soon?

YAZ STEPS IN TO “SUPPORT” HOLLY

Mid meltdown from receiving a gift from Heath, Holly answers the door and it is Yaz. Totally unaware that Yaz is behind this emotional attack, she invites her in and Yaz sees an opportunity to pounce on Holly whilst she is at her most vulnerable.

With persuasion from Yaz, Holly recounts the whole story with Heath, including his death. Externally, Yaz tries to come across as the caring boss, but internally, her rage is boiling over.

Holly decides to get rid of the mystery gift from ‘Heath’ and donates the very expensive perfume to the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation. Symbolically, getting rid of a significant weight from her shoulders and allowing her to concentrate on her work with the Lights Up event.

But when Holly later smells the perfume being worn by Yaz’s lighting technician, Kendall, it triggers her into a hysterical panic and Holly storms off.

Aaron is roped in to help set the technical equipment up but admits that he has little lighting experience. Kendall insists that Aaron just gets on with it. Holly returns, still stressed from the earlier incident and she offers to help Aaron, when they overload a trolley it ends in disaster as the trolley tips over ,both Aaron and Holly are thrown to the ground and Yaz’s expensive custom lighting boards fall into the Lassiters’ ponds.

Terrified that Yaz will fire her for destroying the equipment, Holly is shocked and relied when Yaz takes a concerned tone. Expressing that Holly is clearly struggling, Yaz reassures her that her job is safe and that she can lean on her for support in Karl and Susan’s absence.

After a stressful day, Holly heads home for an early night, but is awakened by a strange noise… she hears Heath’s voice piercing the darkness. A confused Holly is convinced she is hallucinating, but this is all Yaz’s work and she looks on as Holly continues to spiral further.

So, is Yaz about to get her true revenge on Holly? What is the end game? Can Aaron make things right with Rhett? Are Paul and Terese on a course to true love or will history repeat itself? Is Sebastian about to come between Leo and Krista?
