Legends from across the 39-year history of Neighbours will be making a special appearance at a one-off event this summer.
Screen Star Events, who have been running for over fifteen years have previously worked with well-known actors from a number of famous Aussie shows including Prisoner, Wentworth and Neighbours. This year we will see four iconic names from Neighbours, representing every era of the show, come together in Birmingham for OZTV24 on Saturday, July 20th.
The cast will feature:
ELAINE SMITH – Best known for being part of the original cast of Neighbours back in 1985, playing the role of stripper, Daphne Lawrence. Her character went on to marry Des Clarke and run the coffee shop, but is probably best known for her exit from the show, with her dying words of “I love you Clarkey.” Aside from Neighbours, Elaine made guest appearances on A Country Practice, The Flying Doctors and All Saints. Her last credited role was that of Grace Carter on Home and Away in 2006.
LUCINDA COWDEN – Initially arriving in the guest role of Melanie Pearson on Neighbours in 1987, she endeared herself to fans and ended up moving onto Ramsay Street as a regular character, leaving the show after her character married Joe Mangel in 1991. Melanie returned to Neighbours in 2021 and her wedding to Toadie was the central focus of the show’s supposed 2022 finale episode and has featured heavily in the new series after it was exposed she was on the run from British police! Lucinda worked in the UK following her original stint on Neighbours and was one of the hosts of Kids’ TV show Parallel 9 and also appeared in the BBC daytime soap, Doctors.
KYM VALENTINE – Arriving in Ramsay Street in 1994 as Libby Kennedy, we saw Libby grow from a young schoolgirl in her time on the show, marrying, becoming a widow and giving birth to her son, Ben. Her character still has ties to the street, being the daughter of Karl and Susan Kennedy. Kym is now a very active Family Violence Advocate, campaigning against violence towards women.
CARLA BONNER – Carla is best known for playing Steph Scully on Neighbours on and off from 1999-2018, the daughter of Lynn and Joe Scully. Steph’s was a mechanic with a love of motorbikes and in her later years on the show, her stories focused a lot around mental health. Carla’s real-life son, Harley, was also a familiar face to Neighbours viewers, playing Josh Willis (Yes, Josh of the plaque fame). Carla has made guest appearances on a number of other Australian TV shows including Wentworth.
