Ramsay Street is set to say farewell to Felix Rodwell as he is told to leave town by his son, JJ Varga-Murphy.

We have seen Felix in a new light since he was released from prison early. Turning into a good samaritan, he helped foil a plan for Wade Fernsby to exact revenge on Haz Devkar at his wedding. Just a couple of weeks later, Felix turned hero once again after being central to ending the siege at The Waterhole.

Despite this, The Varga-Murphy family still had deep suspicions about Felix, who had been an anonymous sperm donor to them 17 years ago, resulting in the birth of their eldest son, JJ.

When Felix returned, JJ initially was reluctant to let his biological father into his life, but tensions slowly thawed and even Cara, who had been the most vocal anti-Felix campaigner in the family, started to realise that maybe Felix wasn’t the bad person they thought he was.

The relationship soured though when Felix was invited to a family dinner and, on learning that Cara and Remi were considering having another child, he offered to once again be their sperm donor.

Remi saw this as crossing the line and quickly rejected Felix’s offer. Cara, however, was a little more open minded and the prospect of using a known donor rather than an anonymous donor, as they had done for both JJ and Dex, had its appeal.

Next week, Cara becomes more confused as she looks deeper into the possibilities of expanding the family. Remi is shocked and concerned that Cara is entertaining the idea of accepting Felix’s offer.

When Felix moves onto Ramsay Street to live with his brother Andrew, JJ quickly picks up on hesitancy from his mums and overhears them discussing that Felix is a trigger for them. Every time he is bought up in conversation, it results in friction between the couple.

JJ is in agony as he sees that Felix is trying to be a better person and moving in with Andrew is a new type of stability that Felix needs, but he also sees that Felix being around all the while could put his mothers’ marriage at risk.

For the sake of his family, JJ asks Felix to leave Erinsborough as soon as possible. Living next door is not going to work.

When Cara and Remi find out about JJ’s demand, they are shocked and they tell their son he didn’t need to do this, but JJ is steadfast, he wants Felix gone.

Felix is shocked by this change of heart and looks for divine guidance in what to do… then, out of nowhere, a job offer comes from the church, giving Felix an opportunity to start afresh away from Erinsborough.

Felix talks to Holly and tells her that he is going… and assures her that she is strong enough to survive without him.

It is a tearful farewell, but Felix leaves Ramsay Street one final time.

You can catch up on all the latest from Erinsborough with new episodes of Neighbours streaming on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video from 7am, Monday-Thursday.
