Guilt gets the better of Byron and Nicolette as Vera Punt’s dark secret is revealed next week.

We have seen the housemates at No.32 looking for someone to join them at the share house after Mackenzie and Haz departed for Paris. At the open house last week, Real Estate Agent Rhett showed interest. He told Byron he was considering moving on to Ramsay Street himself.

When Aaron found about this and questioned Rhett, he sang a different tune, claiming he attended the open house on behalf of a friend.

After Rhett had shown romantic interest in Aaron, the inconsistent story raised red flags, with Aaron still getting over the stalker-like behaviour of Logan.

It seems that Rhett was being honest, he wasn’t looking for himself, he was looking for a client, Vera Punt!

Vera reveals that she instructed Rhett to sell her own house after racking up a heap of gambling debts. Paying off the debts left her without a lot of cash and also left her homeless… Vera feels that the obvious thing is for her to move into the share house, which she owns, and become a tenant with the Stone siblings.

Byron feels guilty for the way Vera has been treated recently when she was clearly struggling. He was responsible for her missing Mackenzie and Haz’s wedding. Keeping in mind the financial windfall that he and Nic received from Vic, he feels that taking Vera in would be the right thing to do.

Nicolette is less convinced that Vera would be a healthy addition to the house.

Byron eventually gets Nic to agree – Vera can move in – but just on a short term basis until she can sort her life out.

When Vera turns up, she brings with her a hoard of cat figurines to decorate the house… and then swiftly pronounces how much she is looking forward to going skinny dipping in the pool.

Have Byron and Nicolette just made an awful decision?
