THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODES OF NEIGHBOURS SCHEDULED TO AIR BETWEEN AUGUST 26th and SEPTEMBER 12th 2024

Following a week of dramatic episodes set in Australia’s breath-taking Outback, we saw the drama reach a climax last Thursday with the death of Heath Royce after he was pushed into a creek by Holly Hoyland, only to be eaten alive by waiting crocodiles.

Whilst that probably takes the title of campest death in a soap opera, the drama stayed real as, following Heath’s death playing out on screen, we saw Melanie find Mackenzie’s lifeless body after she was shot by Heath.

Elsewhere, Toadie, who had become separated from everyone else, was overcome by dehydration and heat exhaustion, collapsing to the ground on a railway line, seeing his life flash before him, before asking “Take me with you” and closing his eyes.

Do Toadie and Mackenzie survive Outback Week?

Next week, Ramsay Street is rocked by what happened in the Outback and the survivors of Heath’s rampage are set to face one final, horrifying shock.

Elsewhere, Nicolette, Leo and Byron are rocked by Kiri’s shock departure and what it means for them as a business as well as for Nicolette’s personal life. Kiri, of course, left after finding out about Nic’s list of issues she had with Aaron as a parent. Can Nicolette keep the real reason for Kiri’s departure from everyone and can she begin to trust in Aaron again, becoming the person that Aaron thinks she is?

In the face of all of the drama caused by what happened in the Outback, JJ plans a good-old Ramsay Street party to try and take everyone’s mind off of the tragedy. It is Cara’s 40th birthday and despite being initially reluctant to celebrate, when she reads a message from her younger self, she heads to the party to try and step out of her comfort zone, even allowing Sadie to give her a glam makeover.

When Wendy’s friend from uni, Quinn, shows up at the party, it makes for an uncomfortable situation, as Sadie is concerned that Quinn’s interest in her mum is more than just friendship and shares her concerns with Andrew. When Andrew confronts Wendy about her relationship with Quinn, she admits that they did have a moment, but there is nothing to worry about.

Andrew confronts Quinn, leading to Wendy offering to give Andrew a little space. Much to Wendy’s shock, Andrew agrees.

Whilst one relationship hits the rocks at the party, another flourishes. JJ invites Nell to the party and offers her support in the form of cake and undemanding company.

Nell admits that she is struggling with where they are with each other – they have both admitted they like each other. JJ admits that he has been thinking about it too. Despite the risk of jeopardising their relationships with Dex, Nell and JJ share their very first kiss.

You can see all of the drama unravel and learn the fate of those still in the Outback in the episodes of Neighbours that will be streaming from 7am, Monday-Thursday on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video.
