Over its 39-year history, Neighbours has always enjoyed being a little… well… cheeky…
The show that puts the peach into 10Peach did it again this week with a bit of bath time bum on display from bad-boy Heath.
Let’s take a look back at eight other times when the buns came out on Ramsay Street, from Henry Ramsay to Karl Kennedy… and maybe Kyle Canning (a few times).
HENRY RAMSAY LOSES HIS TOWEL
We start by going back to 1988… a very different time from today. A time when the word sex couldn’t be used on Neighbours and everything was a little more puritanical than now. Indeed, it was rare to see any kind of nudity on television, let alone in the early evening, so Henry Ramsay’s naked run around Ramsay Street was somewhat of an awakening for many!
Henry was dating Bronwyn Davies and was taking a shower at her house (No.30, now the home of the Varga-Murphys) when her conservative Aunt Edie arrived. Not wanting to be caught with a man in the house, Bronwyn grabs Henry and throws him out of the back door, not realising that his towel was trapped in the door.
Henry has two choices, stay and be caught or lose the towel and make a run for it. Taking option two, Henry covers his modesty and runs through the gardens back to his home at No.24.
AARON AND DAVID SAVE AMY’S MODESTY
In 2018, whilst enjoying a spa day at the Flametree Retreat, a fire alarm sounds, causing everyone to evacuate to the terrace outside… the only problem is, Amy is in a state of undress. To allow her to get dressed, Aaron and David use their towels to make a barrier, leaving their own backsides on display for all to see! Gary Canning looks particularly confused at what is going on!
NEIGHBOURS: END GAME – AKA “BUM ISLAND”
2020 saw Neighbours celebrate its 35th anniversary with two sets of stories, one set in Erinsborough with a number of weddings at Lassiters, another following a group of Ramsay Street residents heading out to Pierce Greyson’s private island for a glamping trip.
In the UK, the episodes set on the island, entitled Neighbours: End Game, were a separate strand airing at 9pm (In Australia they aired after the main episode earlier in the evening). With the post-watershed schedule, it meant the UK episodes could push the boundaries a little further with a little bit of bad language and not one, not two but THREE bums on display. Sadly, these bums didn’t make the Australian early-evening edit.
British fans got to enjoy Kyle and Roxy taking a late night skinny dip (Kyle, played by Chris Milligan is in this list quite a bit!) and they also got to see Finn Kelly drop his towel for Harry Sinclair after going for a naked swim himself… which lead to Finn and Harry having sex on the beach!
The amount of flesh on display earnt the End Game episodes the nickname “Bum Island” amongst fans and the sight of Finn’s bum is almost more memorable than watching Gary Canning getting killed by a crossbow.
KYLE AND CHLOE’S ROLE PLAY
Many people forget that in 2019, Chloe Brennan had a brief relationship with Kyle Canning. It is Kyle’s second appearance on this list (and not his last) as Kyle chases Chloe out of No.32 Ramsay Street wearing nothing but a tool belt!
KYLE TAKES TO MODELLING
Kyle is back! This time, stripping naked for Chloe’s mum, Fay. (There is still more Kyle to come).
In 2021, knowing that she doesn’t have long to live, Fay starts ticking items off of her bucket list, which includes taking part in a life drawing class. With limited time, Kyle volunteers to be the model and strips off in the back garden of No.32 for Fay, Aaron, Chloe and Nicolette.
NAKED BRUNCH AT THE WATERHOLE
Trying to drum up business, Roxy Willis decides to host a naked brunch at The Waterhole, but doesn’t pass it by Shane Rebecchi first… the situation gets a little more complex when Lassiters boss Lucy Robinson arrives in town unannounced on the day the brunch is planned.
In an episode packed with innuendo, we see Roxy serving up the drinks naked (with strategically-placed bottles and glassware protecting her modesty) and Karl, Kyle and Aaron having a great old time! (We are not going to tell who which bum belongs to who!).
NED AND BEA’S STEAMY GARAGE HOOK UP
When Ned Willis and Bea Nilsson decided to get it on at the garage where Bea worked, things got steamy… until they were interrupted by the arrival of Heath Kabel, the new garage manager. Ned jumps up and puts everything on display!
Of course, Ned’s bum made more headlines when the character was involved in an OnlyFans-style storyline… can anyone say bum-cake?
So Neighbours has proven it loves a bum or two… and long may it continue!
It’s only a matter of time before Vera Punt wants to go skinny-dipping in the pool at No.32, surely!?
