Tensions have been running high on Ramsay Street since Toadie had an unscheduled sleep over at the Kennedy house with his ex-wife Melanie, after she was taken hostage by villainous Eden Shaw. Keeping her company, their innocent chat turned into a sharing of feelings where both of them admitted missing each other. Toadie made it clear to Melanie that he was just reminiscing and that he now loved Terese and she was his future, Melanie was his past.

Upon finding out about the former couple’s heartfelt conversation, Terese confronted Mel, telling her to stay away from Toadie. Rather than heed Terese’s warning, Mel took Toadie’s confession as a sign that he still harboured feelings for her.

Last week, when Toadie noticed that Mel was wearing her wedding ring again, she finally admitted that she was still deeply in love with him and she wanted him back. Unable to handle the conversation, a clearly emotional Toadie walked out of the house, pausing momentarily to stare at Melanie’s mural on the side of the Drinks Diva van parked outside. Aaron Brennan was also there, looking at David’s image next to Melanie’s. The two shared a silent moment, looking at their lost loves, and Melanie looked on from the Kennedy house window, with a smile on her face.

Awkwardly avoiding each other all day, Toadie finally plucks up the courage to confront Melanie about the earlier conversation. Angry that he is having to keep secrets from his wife, Toadie tells Melanie that he shouldn’t be talking to her anymore.

Melanie encourages Toadie to tell Terese what she said. Toadie hasn’t done anything wrong, it was Mel that admitted she still had feelings and she doesn’t care if Terese hates her, she needed to tell the truth and has no regrets.

Toadie admits that it isn’t that easy, he can’t tell Terese what happened, because seeing Mel wearing the wedding ring and hearing her admit to still loving him and wanting him back made him have feelings too.

Realising that he shouldn’t have confessed to Melanie, Toadie walks away and Mel is stunned by what she heard. With Toadie back in her sights, Mel has a reason to be happy again. Upbeat and positive, the old Mel is back.

The story will continue to unravel in new episodes, landing at 7am Monday-Thursday on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video.
