Since Neighbours returned last month, viewers have been on a journey with Mackenzie, mourning the loss of her husband, Hendrix, but realising that it was time to move on and look for love again. Initially she hoped that housemate Haz would be her new beau, but seeing him hit the dating apps and start dating firefighter Billie, Mack looked elsewhere for love herself.
After being stood up by her own online date, Mackenzie bumped into charming stranger Ed. Viewers were quickly let into the secret that Ed was in fact Holly Hoyland’s abusive ex, Eden.
As Mackenzie and Ed connected more, he was introduced to Mack’s friends but through a series of “Sliding Doors” moments, always managed to avoid coming face to face with Holly.
In today’s episode we see Leo’s friends and family join him at the winery for his whisky launch. At the event, Holly is confused why she is the only one of the group to have not met Ed, seemingly missing him by a few seconds, once again.
Later in the day when Holly returns to Susan’s car to get her coat, she spots a familiar figure in the distance. As she walks towards him, he bolts and Holly runs into the vines after him, unable to locate him in the maze of plants, but she is absolutely certain she knows who she saw and puts 2 and 2 together.
Returning to the party inside the winery she approaches Mackenzie, looking flustered. “I am going to show you a photo and I really hope you say no, but, do you recognise this person?”
She then shows Mackenzie the one photograph of Eden that she has not deleted from her phone. Mackenzie confirms that she knows the person.
“Yes, that’s Ed.”
“No it’s not. That’s not Ed. That’s my ex, Eden”.
Mackenzie immediately realises she has been played.
What will this mean for Mackenzie? Will Eden face the music and will it be fully revealed what he did to Holly?
Elsewhere at the Whisky launch we saw Leo pay tribute to Britney, the mother of his daughter who died inside Lassiters’ Flamingo Bar after it collapse during a storm. We also saw Jane, fresh from her confrontation with Terese, attempt to drown her sorrows by taking full advantage of the free bar on offer, knocking back a lot of “Jolly Janes”, a special cocktail named in her honour.
Drunk Jane has been a hit with viewers in the past, we last saw her out on the town with daughter Nicolette, proclaiming to a full bar “Please pay attention to my Lesbian daughter!”. Drunk Jane was not so fun this time though, eventually smashing a glass and spilling a drink all over Holly. She later regretfully staggered out of winery, being held up by Leo before Wendy Rodwell returned her to Ramsay Street.
