With spooky season here, people are picking out their costumes for Halloween parties and while many go for the traditional ghost, ghouls and witches, many others dress as iconic TV or movie stars. Neighbours legend Delta Goodrem surprised fans this weekend as her pick of costumes was Neighbours’ own Nina Tucker!

Delta played Nina from 2002-2004 and slipped back into her Erinsborough High school uniform and pigtails to pay tribute to the character that shot her to fame.

Along with various shots which included holding the famed Ramsay Street sign and a pile of books including a 2003 diary, Delta shared a supercut of shots from Neighbours showing her character, who was initially a shy wallflower before becoming a pop star, excusing herself from social situations with a meek “I’ve gotta go”, also posting a short video recreating her catchphrase.

Delta captioned the post with “Happy Halloween 😜 from your girl Nina @neighbours ✌🏻 #ivegottago

Fans loved her throwback costume with various comments on the post. One fan asking “Omg how do you look 16?! So jelly!” and various people calling the move iconic. And we would be inclined to agree.

Since leaving the show Delta skyrocketed to fame, with 16 top-ten singles in her native Australia, 7 solo studio albums plus “I Honestly Love You”, the soundtrack to the Biopic “Olivia: Hopelessly Devoted To You” where Delta played Olivia Newton-John. She appeared on the Australian versions of both The Voice and The Voice Kids as a judge and also won 9 Aria awards as well as a Silver Logie in 2003 for her role on Neighbours.

Despite her rise to fame, Delta has always kept Neighbours close to her heart, returning for the show’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2015 when her character performed at the Erinsborough Festival and made a brief cameo in the show’s 2022 finale, sending wedding wishes to her old friend Toadie. During her recent UK tour, Delta included a rendition of the Neighbours theme tune in her set list. Her character Nina was most recently mentioned just last week when Jane, trying to impress parents from Ansons Corner, included her in a list of the Erinsborough High’s famous alumni.

With the threat of closure, could Nina return once more to help save her former school? After all, she was born to try.

A selection of iconic Neighbours episodes featuring Delta Goodrem as Nina Tucker are available on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video as well as her 2015 and 2022 appearances.
