In yesterday’s Neighbours we saw tensions rise in the Varga-Murphy family as they waited for the DNA results to come in to determine JJs paternity. This eventually turned into an argument and fight between Dex and JJ, with JJ bolting out of the house and stealing Andrew Rodwell’s motorbike, just as the DNA results came in.

JJ rode around until the bike ran out of fuel, eventually being found by mum, Cara. JJ had previously said that his father wasn’t important to him and he had only searched for Andrew because of Philippa’s diary, but he admitted that he did want to know more about his dad, even if it was the American donor and not Andrew Rodwell. He then went on to admit that if he could pick, he would choose Andrew to be his dad.

In an emotional scene Cara reassured JJ that he was loved and that the rest of the family would support him, with Dex only reacting the way he did because he is scared. Cara encouraged JJ to open up and talk about what’s going through his mind so that she and Remi could help him.

Returning to Ramsay Street, all of the Varga-Murphys and Rodwells came out to meet Cara and JJ, where he learned that the DNA results were in. Andrew revealed that the DNA was not a match and he is not Andrew’s father.

Whilst that part of the story wraps up, it leaves so much more to deal with. The Rodwell family have to rebuild their relationships after the revelations, Wendy admitting that she can’t make sense of it and doesn’t know how to talk about the situation. She sees that Andrew was disappointed at the news.

For the Varga-Murphys, Remi admits she will struggle to get over the betrayal but feels the couple need to focus on the kids first and foremost. They start to question if they have been honest and open enough with the boys growing up.

New episodes of Neighbours are available from 7am Monday to Thursday on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video.
