After Paul shocked everyone by admitting his indirect involvement in David’s death, the only Erinsborough resident who stood by him was his ex-wife, Terese. This lead to arguments between Terese and Toadie as he wasn’t able to understand why Paul did what he did.
Concerned for her former lover, she shunned the opportunity to clear the air with Toadie to go and visit Paul in his Penthouse. Hoping to keep her visit a secret, she is rumbled by Chelsea and Lucy who spot Terese leaving Paul’s.
Arriving home, a worried Toadie was waiting up for his wife. Rather than admitting she had been with Paul, she gives Toadie the first big lie of their marriage.
The next day, Toadie sees Terese and Lucy chatting and they suspiciously go quiet when Toadie approaches. He is immediately suspicious, working out that they were discussing Paul. Terese later admits that she was talking to Lucy about Paul but doesn’t take the opportunity to come clean to Toadie about her late-night visit to see him.
Whilst Terese is walking around with a guilty secret, Toadie has his own feelings of guilt after confiding in Melanie about his frustrations with Terese and the sympathy she is showing towards Paul.
When Karl discovers that Toadie has been confiding in his ex-wife, he gives his friend a gentle word of warning how this could look if Terese were to find out.
Chelsea is the queen of “accidentally” letting secrets slip. (Remember when she “accidentally” revealed to Remi that Cara had loaned her $300 to pay off Sadie?) When she runs into Toadie, she can’t help herself to cause trouble for Terese by “accidentally” telling him about Terese and Paul’s secret rendez-vous.
Shocked and hurt, Toadie rushes to get advice from Karl, but he isn’t home, only Melanie is there. Initially cautious of opening up to Melanie following Karl’s earlier advice, he eventually spills all to Mel. He is appalled by Terese’s betrayal and wonders what this means for his marriage. If Terese is putting Paul first, does this mean she still has feelings for him?
Lucy is ready to return to the USA but knows that there is no way she can leave Paul alone with the state that he is in. Never one to miss an opportunity, Chelsea says that she will happily move into the Penthouse to keep an eye on Paul, leaving Lucy free to return home.
