Hilary Robinson, the cousin of original Neighbours character Jim Robinson, has been confirmed to be returning to the show in coming episodes. In the “coming up on Neighbours” section at the end of today’s episode (Monday, 16th October) we saw a scene with Hilary in the Waterhole with Terese Willis, discussing the Retirement Experience plans for the Erinsborough High site.

Hilary, played by Anne Scott-Pendlebury, first appeared in the show in 1987 as a guest at Scott and Charlene Robinson’s wedding and remained as a permanent character until 1990. She returned for a number of stints including the show’s 20th and 30th anniversary celebrations and was last seen in 2018 after returning to live in a local retirement community in the area and becoming a thorn in Paul Robinson’s side.

Librarian Hilary was characterised as conservative, judgemental and controlling, but her prim and proper demeanor was broken when it was revealed that she had an illegitimate son when she was 20 years old, Matt Robinson (Ashley Paske). Hilary ended up moving onto Ramsay Street and becoming guardian to teenager Sharon Davies, who has also recently been revealed as returning to the show in coming weeks.

Although involved in many stories over the years, she is probably best remembered for one scene in the upstairs hallway of No.22 Ramsay Street where she exposed Paul and Gail’s sham marriage.

Fans were hoping for a return of Hilary after she was mentioned recently, with Holly Hoyland taking Harold Bishop to visit Hilary in her retirement home. With Hilary’s strong opinions and manipulative ways, she is likely to be a great ally or determined enemy to Terese in her efforts to build her development, so we are excited to see what trouble Hilary has in store. We are sure that Paul will be thrilled to see her…

New episodes of Neighbours are available on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video Monday to Thursday with new episodes dropping at 7am to stream at your leisure. There are over 2,000 archive episodes available to watch including Hilary’s first appearance as part of the “Scott and Charlene Wedding” collection, which also includes her discovery of Paul and Gail’s collusion.
