Neighbours is set to air the first episode directed by former cast member, Ryan Moloney.

Ryan announced earlier this year that his character, Toadie Rebecchi, was leaving the show after 29 years, but he would still be connected to Erinsborough as he was becoming part of the directing team on the show.

Ryan follows in the footsteps of other former cast who have gone on to direct, including Kate Kendall, who played Lauren Turner and Scott Major, known on-screen as Lucas Fitzgerald.

Ryan’s first episode as director is set to air tomorrow (Monday, November 11th) under the mentorship of one of Neighbours’ longest serving directors, Tony Osicka. Tony has been with the show since 1987 and is credited in over 1,100 episodes. Osicka has also worked on other Aussie soaps including Home and Away, Prisoner and A Country Practice.

Monday’s episode, directed by Moloney, sees the fallout of Nicolette’s lies to Melanie about Vic, as well as a revolt by the residents of Eirini Rising following the revelation of Terese’s involvement in the recent gas leak.

Although Moloney has now moved into directing, we will still see him on screen, as the actor revealed he still had 5 weeks worth of episodes to film within his contract, hinting that we may see Toadie back in a guest capacity.

Indeed, just last week we found out that Toadie was on his way back to Ramsay Street for a guest appearance at the end of November to help daughter Nell celebrate her 16th birthday. In teasers for Nell’s birthday episode on December 5th, we find out that ‘celebrations take a devastating turn’, so what could possibly go wrong at the birthday party?

Tune in on Monday, November 11th to watch Ryan’s first episode as director and remember that you can catch new episodes of Neighbours from 7am, Monday-Thursday on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video.
