Susan Kennedy, played for almost three decade by Jackie Woodburne, was today voted Soap Champion by UK fans. The contest, run by Radio Times, saw 28 soap characters from a variety of UK soaps, as well as Home and Away and Neighbours battle against each other through a series of rounds to find the ultimate fan favourite.
The final round saw Susan pitted against EastEnders favourite, Ben Mitchell. Over 225,000 votes were cast in this final, with Susan attracting a whopping 68% of the vote.
This win comes just days after Woodburne, along with five of her fellow Neighbours actors, completed a sell-out 15 date tour of the UK celebrating the show and less than 3 weeks before filming is set to resume.
This triumph proves that Susan, Jackie and Neighbours are still much-loved by the British public.
