Terese and Paul’s relationship took a strange turn this week. Terese has been mostly trying to stay away from her ex-husband since she remarried, but following the revelation that Paul gave Eden information which lead to David’s death, she has offered an olive branch to him.
Whilst all of Paul’s friends and family shunned him, Terese gave him a sympathetic ear. Terese has been very critical of Toadie and Melanie being too close recently, but Terese rushed to be by Paul’s side in his darkest hour.
This resulted in a huge argument between Toadie and Terese. She tried to make him see that Paul needed her, but he didn’t think that Paul deserves any sympathy whatsoever and was concerned at the attention his wife was giving her ex-husband. Terese, herself having lost her own son in a terrible tragedy, felt that Toadie was being insensitive.
With Toadie working late at night, Terese went to the complex and saw Toadie working away, but rather than going and clearing the air with her husband, she chose to go and see Paul, who earlier in the day had sent her a text message that simply said ‘I need you’.
Arriving at the Penthouse, Terese lends Paul her ear. Going back through relationships he has lost, he tells Terese that it tears him up to see her with Toadie, but, in a brief moment of safe awareness, he admits that she is safe with Toadie, away from his own toxic behaviour, admitting that he destroys everything that he touches.
Terese is possibly the only person that Paul is ever this honest to (when he isn’t lying to her, of course!) and in the past, Terese’s affection for Paul always seemed to be strongest when he was at his most vulnerable.
Toadie sends a text to Terese to see where she is. It is late. She chooses not to reply and offers Paul her hand to hold instead.
Later that evening, leaving the Penthouse, Terese bumps into Lucy and Chelsea in the elevator. Clearly scared that she has been rumbled, she makes a quick exit. Whilst Lucy is relieved that Paul has someone offering him sympathy, Chelsea sees that her position in Paul’s life is at risk if he and Terese get close again.
When Terese arrives home, Toadie is waiting up for her. Instead of being honest about how she spent the night, she lied and said she just went for a walk through the complex, omitting where her final destination was.
Toadie apologises for their argument earlier on. He has no reason to be jealous. Paul has his life and Toadie has Terese. Guilt sweeps across Terese face as she hugs Toadie and tells him she loves him.
With a jealous Chelsea Murphy knowing that Terese has visited Paul, the secret doesn’t stay very secret for long….
