Joy-Chambers-Grundy, actress, writer and business woman, has died at the age of 76. In a statement by her family it was announced that Chambers-Grundy, best known to fans of Neighbours for playing Rosemary Daniels, died in her sleep on Saturday Morning (September 16th) surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Queensland in 1946, the Logie-winning actor appeared on a number of TV Dramas including The Restless Years, The Young Doctors and Neighbours. In more recent years she turned to writing, releasing a series of historical fiction novels.
Joy was married to TV producer Reg Grundy from 1971 until his death in 2016. Grundy Television was responsible for bringing a wealth of Australian TV drama to our screens such as Sons and Daughters, Prisoner and, of course, Neighbours. In the UK Grundy was responsible for game shows Going For Gold, Man-O-Man and Strike it Lucky, amongst others. Grundy Television was sold to Pearson Television, now known as Fremantle, in 1995.
As Rosemary Daniels, the adopted daughter of Helen Daniels, Chambers-Grundy appeared in Neighbours for various guests stints from 1986-1998, returning for the 20th and 25th anniversary celebrations in 2005 and 2010. Her character ran The Daniels Corporation and she was responsible for turning Paul Robinson from a young university student and aspiring flight attendant into the hot-headed businessman we know today. The character is probably best remembered for finding Jim Robinson dead on the floor of 26 Ramsay Street in 1993 and having an affair with Dorothy Burke’s husband, Colin.
