It’s Nell Rebecchi’s 15th birthday! (Yes, she was only born in December 2012, but that is Neighbours for you.)

Last week we saw her celebrate early with Melanie, being gifted a framed ticket from her favourite wrestling match. Terese was concerned that Mel’s thoughtful and personal gift would outshine what she had gifted her. Today though, Nell was delighted with her gift, a T Shirt with Toadie’s wrestling character, ‘The Lawman’ emblazoned on the front.

As plans for the birthday party kicked in, Erinsborough found itself with a huge power cut, jeopardising Terese’s plans for Nell’s celebration. Initially Paul offered to step up, the hotel has an emergency generator and offered use of Lassiters for the party. At the same time, Wendy and Andrew Rodwell, who are on a romantic break break a couple of hours away, called and invited the family down to the coast to have the party with them. Terese quickly turned down Paul’s suspicious offer and prepared to take the family on a road trip.

The Kennedys, who were also supposed to attend the party, were concerned about going to the coast and leaving a recuperating Melanie at home, alone. Toadie stepped in and invited Mel along as well, saying how much it would mean to Nell to have Melanie there. Despite concerns that the situation could be uncomfortable, Terese is confident that everyone can manage to keep it civil and make the party a joy for their shared stepdaughter.

Down at the beach house, everyone settled in and the kids headed down to play on the beach. As they played, Toadie and Melanie sat down to chat. Mel admits that she has been struggling since she was released from hospital, also that she freaked out when she entered No.30, the marital home she shared with Toadie and the kids. He admitted that he had a freak out of his own, a combination of seeing Melanie back on the street and finding confetti from their wedding which stirred up memories that he had been trying to forget. They both confide the pain that they are dealing with and Melanie becomes tearful, not seeing that Terese was watching them from afar.

Later, Toadie admitted to Terese that he had been struggling with his feelings and reveals the moment he had on the street, seeing the confetti and knowing that Mel was on the street.

“I know that all of these emotions that are coming up, that is not what I want. It’s just an echo from my past life, does that make sense? This doesn’t change how I feel about you Terese, I love you so much.”

Terese admitted that she saw Toadie and Mel talking and was concerned that the former couple were becoming close again. Toadie reassured Terese that he was in love with her and that he would never hold anything back from her.

Nell’s party went wonderfully and the group finished the afternoon with a classic Ramsay Street cricket match on the sand.

Back at the house, Melanie confided in Karl that she can never forgive herself for the pain she has caused Toadie and his children.

Is everyone being completely honest about their feelings?

The story will continue as new episodes are available to stream from 7am Monday-Thursday on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video.
