Actor Maxine Klibingaitis, best known for her roles in Prisoner and as Terry Inglis in the 1985 season of Neighbours has sadly passed away, aged 58.
Her death was announced yesterday in a Prisoner fan group: “We regrettably announce that actress Maxine Klibingaitis has passed away today. Maxine played the much-loved character of Bobbie Mitchell in Prisoner, Terry Inglis in Neighbours and many other roles in Australian TV. Maxine was only 58. We send our sincere condolences to her son, Zane and Maxine’s family & friends. RIP Maxine.”
Maxine’s role in Neighbours saw her character Terry work alongside Max Ramsay as an apprentice plumber, and having the honour of becoming the first Mrs. Robinson when she married Paul in 1985. Her time on the show wrapped up with a dramatic conclusion when Terry murdered Charles Durham and then shot Paul in the shoulder before being sent down for murder. At the start of the 1986 season, Paul declines to visit Terry in prison and, off screen, later takes her own life – the only Neighbours character to ever do so.
Paying tribute to his first on-screen wife, Stefan Dennis said: “Very sad to hear of the sudden passing of Maxine Klibingaitis… Paul’s first wife. She was so kooky and such fun to be with. A true gentle soul who cared so much.”
Maxine continued to act, with roles in Home and Away, The Flying Doctors and Blue Heelers and was a regular face at Prisoner fan conventions.
