Neighbours has announced that following the return of Harold Bishop next week, his grand-daughter Sky Mangel will be heading back to Ramsay Street too!

Taking to social media, the show announced Sky’s return:

“Sky Mangel returns to Ramsay Street! Hot on the heels of Harold… Sky will be dropping by to visit her dear old grandad. But what else has brought her back to Erinsborough? Stephanie McIntosh will be reprising her much loved role in the coming weeks.”

We last saw Sky in 2020 when she returned as part of the show’s 35th anniversary celebrations. During that stint it was revealed that Sky was now a Police detective and was part of the investigation into Finn Kelly’s death, for which Elly Conway was arrested and jailed. During that return we also saw Sky marry Lana Crawford, 16 years after their first kiss on the show.

Viewers first saw Sky in 1989 when she arrived aged 2 with her mother Kerry, to visit Harold Bishop, who was Kerry’s father. Kerry later married Joe Mangel but their life together was short-lived when Kerry was killed during a tragic (but iconic) duck-hunting accident. Joe continued to care for Sky, eventually marrying Melanie Pearson and leaving the street. This gives Sky another current connection to Ramsay Street, with Melanie having been her stepmother for a short time.

Through Joe, Sky is also related to Jane Harris and her children Nicolette and Byron, with Sky being Jane’s step-cousin.

Sky returned to Erinsborough in 2003, moving in with Harold and stayed for 3 years, later returning for both the 30th and 35th anniversaries of the show. Sky also made a cameo appearance in the show’s 2022 finale which saw her former stepmother, Melanie, marry Toadie. Australian fans saw this cameo but, for unknown reasons, her short scene was cut from the version broadcast on Channel 5 in the UK.

As a child, Sky was played by Miranda Fryer. The child actor passed away in January 2022 after suffering from a heart conditrion.

Stephanie McIntosh took over the role when Sky returned in 2003 and comes from good Erinsborough stock. Her real-life half brother is Jason Donovan (They have the same mother) who played Scott Robinson in the 1980s and her niece Jemma Donovan played Harlow Robinson from 2019-2022.

Stephanie also is one of the many ex-Neighbours cast to have embarked on a musical career, releasing her album ‘Tightrope’ and lead single ‘Mistake’ in 2006.

Whilst we don’t know anything about Sky’s return or how long she will be back for, although in a comment on Instagram, Stephanie referred to her return as a “little visit back” to see Harold, so it is likely just a guest spot, but we are hoping this opens the door for Sky to regularly visit her grandfather.

We know that nobody arrives on Ramsay Street without a secret or an ulterior motive in mind, so we can’t wait to see the unmissable drama unfold.

Harold Bishop’s return will air on Tuesday, May 28th and Sky is expected to follow soon after.

You can catch all the action with episodes of Neighbours streaming on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video from 7am Monday-Thursday.
