Neighbours has announced that it is to air a special week of episodes next month, entitled “Death in the Outback”.

The episodes see Holly Hoyland and her new secret love interest, Heath Royce (Ethan Panizza), head out to the Outback for a holiday without telling anyone of their plans.

At the same time, Toadie and Melanie have disappeared from Erinsborough without saying a word.

When Mackenzie and Haz can’t get in touch with Holly, they catch a flight out to the Outback, concerned for the safety of their friend.

Anica Calida returns to Neighbours in the role of Tess Carmichael, the American businesswoman who works for the Sinclair family and is also involved in the story.

With all of these faces heading out to the Outback, we know that one of them will not return…

The story is ramping up towards Ryan Moloney’s departure as Toadie Rebecchi, who announced last month that he is leaving the show after almost 30 years in the role and has already filmed his final episode as an actor. in coming weeks viewers will see Toadie, who has recently reunited with wife Terese Willis, have a crisis of conscience as his past comes back to haunt him.

Ryan will be staying within the Neighbours family, joining the directing team, with the first episode under his direction expected to air in mid-November.

Neighbours has a history of epic stunt weeks. Since the show returned we had Flashback Week where it was explained how Melanie left Erinsborough, caught up in a drugs trafficking conviction and blackmailed by Eden Shaw. That week also saw us introduced to Krista Sinclair who was initially presumed dead, with Melanie and Paul Robinson involved in covering up the crime.

The death of David Tanaka aired earlier this year, with an epic location shoot in the bush, with Eden Shaw heavily involved in that story and responsible for David’s death.

In 2020, as part of the show’s 35th anniversary celebrations, Neighbours Endgame (Affectionately known by many fans as ‘Bum Island’, due to a not-inconsiderable amount of nudity during the episodes) saw the cast head to a remote island unknowing that Finn Kelly was about to seek revenge. We saw the death of Gary Canning when he was shot in the back by Finn Kelly with a crossbow. Guest character Prue Wallace also met her end when a bomb planted in a hat box exploded. Finn Kelly saw his own demise the following week in a watery grave after initially escaping the carnage and taking Susan Kennedy hostage.

So, based on past experience, Death in the Outback is set to be an amazing week of unmissable drama. You will be able to catch the episodes on Amazon Freevee and Amazon Prime Video from August 19th-22nd.
