After a 10-year absence, there will be a Ramsay living on Ramsay Street again as Neighbours have announced the upcoming arrival of Shane Ramsay’s previously-unseen son, Max Ramsay.
Max isn’t the only Ramsay popping into Erinsborough as his father Shane will be making a guest appearance to help introduce max to the show.
Little is known about why Max has chosen to come to Erinsborough, but from the press release images, we see him in a staple of the Ramsay family wardrobe, a pair of overalls. The image with Shane shows him on the set of the garage on Power Road, so it looks as though we may be getting ourselves a new mechanic.
Max, of course, will have a connection in Erinsborough as he is the step-brother of Holly Hoyland. Holly’s mum, Izzy, got together with Shane in the show’s 2022 finale week and it was confirmed in recent episodes that they were still together.
Max is to be played by Ben Jackson who recently completed filming on the series “Paper Dolls” where he appeared alongside other familiar Neighbours faces Benny Turland (Hendrix Greyson) and Gemma Bird Matheson (Kiri Durant).
Ben had been spotted by fans filming on Pin Oak Court, the real life location for Ramsay Street, a few months back and pictures shared online had fans speculating who the new character would be.
The name is very familiar to older fans of the show, as the original Max Ramsay, played by Francis Bell, was Shane’s father and part of the show’s original cast, living at No.24 Ramsay Street (Now home to Jane and her extended family).
Max was central to the show’s first episode, dealing with his son Danny Ramsay’s nightmares and also complaining when Des Clarke’s bachelor party got our of hand and is family seen carrying Paul Robinson back home who is dressed in a baby’s nappy.
Max left the show unexpectedly in mid 1986 as the Ramsay family was reworked to focus more around his sister Madge and her children. The character of Tom Ramsay was introduced to take over Max’s stories.
The last time we had the Ramsay name on the show was in early 2014 when Kate Ramsay was murdered at the pagoda. #ThereWasNoBlood. Her on-screen sister Sophie Ramsay returned for the funeral, but left teh show without a Ramsay family member.
We did get a Ramsay back on the show in 2019 when Roxy Willis arrived to live with her aunt, Terese Willis. Roxy’s mum was Gemma Willis. Before Gemma Married Adam Willis she was Gemma Ramsay. Gemma returned to the show briefly in 2022 to help introduce Roxy to the show and also was seen on screen in 2022 when Roxy married Kyle Canning.
Although Roxy was on the show for 3 years, her connection to the Ramsay family was never mentioned until her final episode when she stole the Ramsay Street sign, proclaiming to new husband Kyle “Well, I am a Ramsay afterall!”
We can’t wait to see what unmissable drama the new Max Ramsay will bring with him when he arrives in Erinsborough in the coming weeks.
