After Elly arrived in Erinsborough, Chloe was finally forced into admitting she had been keeping a secret. Her Huntington’s Disease symptoms had begun, causing Chloe to struggle with every day tasks.

Chloe shares what this means for her future, what she saw happen to her own mother will start to happen to Chloe, eventually ending her life. Whilst she has come to terms that this is inevitable for her, is it fair for Elly and Aster to also have to go through the effects of the disease?

Elly tries to be supportive, but Chloe refuses to accept that life can go on as normal.

“Chloe, this is scary, I get that. But I have thought about the future too and no version involved us not being together.”

For Chloe, it isn’t so straight forward, she offers Elly an out, a chance to walk away before things get too tough. Elly doesn’t want to consider it, but Chloe is adamant that she thinks before making a decision.

Elly tearfully seeks guidance from Aunty Susan, explaining the decision that Chloe has asked her to make. Whilst she knows she wants to be there for Chloe and doesn’t want to end the relationship, she admits she has concerns that she may not be strong enough to help Chloe through what is ahead.

Susan reassures her that she will be enough, that her love for Chloe will see them through. She draws parallels to conversations she had with Karl following her own Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis a number of years before.

“There are no guarantees in life, Elly. Not for anybody. The most we can do is hope for the best and try and be prepared for whatever gets in your way.”

Elly also caught up with Nicolette, thanking her for encouraging Chloe to be honest about what was happening. These chats helped Elly realise what she had to do.

She returns to Chloe telling her that her mind hasn’t changed, she has done a lot of thinking about what their future will look like.

“What you mean to me and Aster will never change. So, the more I thought about it, the more I realised there’s only one way this could go.”

Chloe looked confused, Elly dropped down onto one knee.

“Chloe Brennan, will you please marry me?”

Of course, Chloe said yes, embracing her new fiance and sharing a sundrenched kiss by Lassiters Lake.

Let’s get ready for a Chelly wedding!
