THIS ARTICLE REFERENCES THE UNMISSABLE DRAMA IN EPISODES OF NEIGHBOURS SET TO AIR FROM 29TH APRIL – 2ND MAY
Last week in Erinsborough, the drama seemed to kick up a notch. Chelsea got her self in deeper as IT guru Jeffrey started to get attached, risking the truth around her actions to be exposed. Aaron and Krista became unlikely companions as they went on a drinks and drugs binge to try and mask their mutual feelings of grief. If watching 39 years of Neighbours has taught us anything it is that an addiction relapse can’t end well. The story about Haz and the deep-fake hackers got even more complex. The story has been a rollercoaster since day one and viewers have been left wondering who Haz is. Is he a good guy? Is he a bad guy? Are there two Haz’s? Most importantly, where is Trevor?
Undoubtedly the biggest drama of the week was seeing Erinsborough come together to hunt out the mysterious serial poo menace. (Don’t worry, there is minimal poo-related story in next week’s episodes!)
So let’s take a look at some of the biggest stories coming your way next week. As always, some of the juiciest details have been left out, so you will have to watch to find out exactly what happens!
CHELSEA TURNS TO BLACKMAIL
Already suspicious of Chelsea’s behaviour, an innocent comment from Holly raises Krista’s suspicions and leads her to do a bit of investigating. She arrives at Chelsea’s hotel suite, finding her in a compromising situation with Jeffrey.
Realising that if Paul found out about her liaisons, her game would be up, she threatens to expose Krista’s relapse if she mentions anything about Jeffrey to anyone. Despite holding this over Krista’s head, Chelsea begins to fear that her time is coming to an end and reveals some home truths to Terese.
TERESE CONFRONTS PAUL AND DEALS WITH TOADIE’S RETURN
After Terese questioned Paul’s intentions over the level of support he was giving her, he assures Terese that she is overthinking the situation, but another dream about Paul drives Terese to go back and seek advice from her therapist. The session leaves Terese with a lot to think about and more insight into her own conflicted feelings. News of Toadie’s imminent return make Terese’s emotions even more on-edge.
Things don’t get any easier as Terese bumps into a clearly agitated Chelsea. Dealing with her own fears, she lets loose on Terese, claiming that no woman could ever get close to Paul while Terese is still around. A confused Terese reminds Chelsea that she is the one in a relationship with Paul, but Chelsea makes it clear that she realises that Paul is only with her to make Terese feel more comfortable around him – after all – if Paul is with Chelsea, surely he can’t have any interest in Terese, can he?
Fired up by Chelsea’s comments, Terese confronts Paul who admits that what Chelsea said is true and he declares his love for Terese. She furiously tells him to back off, she will never allow herself to fall into Paul’s orbit again.
Toadie returns, making it clear that his priority is his relationship with Terese and that what happened with Melanie was a mistake. When he finds out that Terese is dealing with a bad bout of food poisoning, he rushing to No.22 to act as nurse to his wife. At first, Terese is cold and hard towards Toadie, but when he admits that he should have taken more time to deal with his feelings about Melanie before jumping into marriage again, Terese’s resolve softens. She also admits that she rushed into things with Toadie rather than properly allowing herself to get over Paul.
KRISTA’S RELAPSE IS EXPOSED
After her drink and drug binges with Aaron, Krista realises she needs to get back on the straight and narrow, but after being faced with a blackmail threat from Chelsea, a distraught Krista finds comfort through her dealer and heads back down a dangerous path.
Leo is concerned by Krista’s erratic behaviour and realises that she isn’t always being honest with him. Aaron tries to deflect Leo’s concerns, but that doesn’t stop Leo worrying about his girlfriend.
Former Lassiters employee Penny arrives back in town. As the prime suspect in the Sauna case, Paul rushes to question her. Penny denies all involvement, but Krista, overhearing the exchange, is confused by the story and starts to try and work out the chain of events herself. Stressed by it all, she turns back to drugs to dull the pain, going on another bender with Aaron, before having a shocking realisation.
High on drinks and drugs, Krista ends up unconscious on the floor of Chelsea’s hotel room. Rushed to hospital, Krista’s secret is exposed and everyone around her is shocked. They are even more shocked when Aaron admits that he not only knew about Krista’s relapse, but had actually been enabling her.
AARON FACES LOSING EVERYTHING
After everyone finds out about Aaron’s involvement in Krista’s relapse, his friends and family turn their backs on him. Leo is furious that Aaron lied to him and was enabling an addict, putting his own needs before that of someone struggling with drug addiction.
Nicolette is equally enraged and tells Aaron that until he gets himself together, he isn’t allowed to see Isla.
Aaron finds an ally in Jane. Although she is shocked by what Aaron has done, she also understands that Aaron is dealing with an immense amount of grief. Jane confronts Nicolette and says she is disappointed that Nic is weaponizing Isla. She reminds her of how Aaron and David were forgiving after she ran away and swapped babies. Now is the time for Nicolette to show the same compassion towards Aaron.
Nic and Aaron apologise to one another and reach common ground, Aaron promises to sort himself out and Nicolette agrees that Aaron needs to spend time with Isla. Everything seems happy and supportive, but when Aaron leaves, we see Nicolette open a document showing all of Aaron’s transgressions.. and she adds his drinks and drugs benders to the list.
MACKENZIE IS CONCERNED FOR HAZ AS HE DISAPPEARS
Faced with his own blackmail – Wade has threatened to ruin Mackenzie’s life unless Haz joins him in producing deep fakes – Haz prepares to flee Ramsay Street. He is rumbled by Byron, Holly and Mackenzie who convince him that he needs to stay and face the music, whatever that may be.
Later that day, Byron finds that Haz is nowhere to be found, leaving behind the house, his business and even his beloved dog, Trevor. (Yes, we actually get to see Trevor again!) Mackenzie is gutted that Haz has gone, it just proves to her that he wasn’t the man she fell for.
Mack confides in Karl and Susan how bad she feels about being duped by Haz and is adamant that they need to find where he has gone. Desperate for a lead, she finds an office address on a piece of paper given to her by Wade, could this be a clue to Haz’s whereabouts?
She hands the information over to Andrew, but he is quite flippant about it. Concerned by his lack of urgency, Mackenzie decides to take matters into her own hands and goes with Karl into the city to look for her ex-boyfriend.
Wade has Haz reluctantly working on a deepfake that will be used as blackmail. When Haz’s behaviour starts to worry Wade, he bolts out of the building, Haz in hot pursuit. Wade runs across the road, followed by Haz who runs right into the path of Mackenzie’s car.
Flying across the car bonnet, Haz’s lifeless body hits the road.
