In the latest set of episode teasers and spoiler images, Neighbours has confirmed the arrival of Amira Devkar, Haz’s sister.
Former Miss Universe Australia and social campaigner Maria Thattil was announced as joining the show in a guest capacity last December. In a post on social media, the show said:
“We’re delighted to announce that Maria Thattil will be joining the cast next year in the guest role of Haz’s big sister! But just why she turns up suddenly at Harold’s is yet to be revealed.”
Maria also posted to her own Instagram account:
“I’ve been a few places this year – from the Drag Race panel to the big red TEDX stage – but I’m pretty excited about this next destination …. I’m SO excited to be heading to Ramsay St in 2024! Get ready to meet Amira Devkar.
I couldn’t be more proud to join the beautiful Neighbours cast at a time when the show is evolving to tell even more Australian stories. Imagining 10 year old me turning on the telly to see herself is pretty surreal… even more so because I can’t remember ever seeing a gay female South Asian character on an Australian TV show. Can you? Grateful to Neighbours & Channel 10 for the honour of being authentic representation of what we’ve been missing. And to do it with a bang.
See you in 2024!“
At the time, we couldn’t have imagined the direction of Haz’s story, learning that he used to be a hacker and was responsible for attacking individuals online. Last week we met one of his victims, Wade Fernsby as he connected with Haz’s girlfriend, Mackenzie. In episodes set to air this week we see that connection escalate and Zach and Haz meet face-to-face.
In further spoiler images for early-May, we see Haz and Wade working together at a computer and later scenes with Haz chasing Wade down a street. Haz seemingly takes a tumble during the pursuit and we see Karl Kennedy later performing CPR on him in the street as a tearful Mackenzie looks on.
The images showing Amira’s arrival see her visiting Haz in hospital and talking with Mackenzie. What does she know about Haz’s past and why is she only now coming to track her brother down?
Amira is set to arrive on Tuesday, May 21st and if we know anything about newcomers to Ramsay Street, it normally means that there will be plenty of unmissable drama arriving with her.
